The Campaign Against Immigration Controls organised a picket yesterday at Total HQ in Watford to coincide with the deadline for surrender that the bosses had set, stepping up their offensive against the unions in the engineering construction industry with the taunt of asking workers to betray the most militant among them by reapplying individually for their jobs rather than securing reinstatement en masse.

At our conference today, we wanted to note our solidarity with the demonstrations and meetings taking place at the same time: for the Tamil people and the wave of Iranian protests for democracy.
Following our conference today the Campaign Against Immigration Controls (CAIC) calls for the immediate reinstatement of the workers who were sacked by Total, Jacobs and other subcontractors at the Lindsey Oil refinery in Lincolnshire last Thursday night.
We are calling a solidarity protest at the Total headquarters in Watford on Monday 22nd June, 4-6pm.
